Host a number

Own a number? Earn $0.15 every time it verifies a route.

Open Voice Shield checks whether telecom routes deliver caller ID intact by calling real numbers in real countries. If you own a working number in Africa, the Middle East or Asia, point it at us and it becomes one of those numbers: every check that reaches it credits US$0.15 to your balance. Setup takes minutes and one phone call, with nothing to install.

Per check $0.15 added to your account balance as each check completes
Setup 1 call point the number at us, call it once, it is live
Each use ~12s a short announcement, never two at once

Why your number

Routes are verified by calling real numbers, and we need more of them

A caller ID check proves what a route delivers by calling a number the platform holds in the destination country and reading the caller ID that arrives. Coverage is only as wide as the numbers we hold. Operators ask for countries every week that no number provider sells into. You already have the number.

Who this is for

Carriers, ISPs, call centres, resellers and individuals with a working mobile, landline or toll-free number they can route. Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Pakistan, Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, the Philippines: wherever wholesale routes terminate and caller ID goes missing.

What you need

A number whose calls you can point at a SIP host, which most DID providers, carriers and PBXs allow in their routing settings, delivering plain G.711 audio. You need no hardware, software or port forwarding.

What you get

US$0.15 per check that reaches the number, whatever the check's verdict, on your balance as it happens, with a per-number history of uses and earnings. Withdraw on request.

How it works

Three steps and one phone call

  1. Enrol the number

In the portal, open Host a number. Enter the number in international format, its country and its kind. It is enrolled at once, waiting to be pointed.

  2. Point it at us

The page shows where: our SIP host, port 5060, UDP or TCP, and the source address to allow. Set that as the destination for the number in your carrier's or PBX's routing.

  3. Prove it with one call

Press I've pointed it and call the number from any phone within 15 minutes. We answer with a short announcement, show you the caller ID we received, and the number goes live. From then on it earns.

The Host a number page of the customer portal: earnings so far, checks served and the per-check rate; an enrol form; a Nigerian number waiting to be pointed with its SIP address, host and port, request URI user, the source address to allow and the codecs, and an I've pointed it button; below it a live Kenyan number with checks served and earnings.
The page as a host sees it: one number live and earning, one waiting to be pointed, with every value to copy.

What a check looks like on your number

Money

What you earn, and how it is paid

US$0.15 per check that reaches your number

Paid whatever the verdict: if a route mangles the caller ID, that is the route's fault, not yours, and you are still paid for the call. Nothing is paid for a check whose call never arrived, which is what keeps everyone honest about pointing.

Added to your balance as it happens

Each check adds its credit to your account balance the moment it completes, the same balance that pays for calls, analysis and checks, so there is nothing to claim or transfer. Billing shows every credit. The Host a number page totals uses and earnings per number. To take earnings out as cash instead, write to support.

Agents and scripts can do all of this too: the REST API and the MCP tools host_number, test_hosted_number and list_hosted_numbers do what the page does. Setup guide.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What kind of number can I host?

A working mobile, landline or toll-free number that you own and can route: calls to it must be deliverable to a SIP address you choose. Numbers in Africa, the Middle East and Asia are the most wanted, because that is where customers ask for coverage, and any country is welcome.

How much do I earn?

US$0.15 for every caller ID check whose call reaches your number, whatever the verdict of the check. It is added to your Open Voice Shield account balance the moment each check completes, the same balance that pays for calls and checks, so there is nothing to claim. Cash payouts are arranged with support.

What happens on my number?

Short calls, about 12 seconds, placed by other customers' routes as caller ID checks. The platform answers each one with a brief announcement and reads the caller ID that arrived. Calls never overlap on one number, and the number is only called while a check holds it. Any other call to it is refused.

Do I need any equipment?

No. You need a number whose calls you can point at a SIP host, which most DID providers, carriers and PBXs allow in their routing settings, and nothing is installed.

How is the number tested?

You press "I've pointed it" and call the number from any phone within 15 minutes. The platform answers with a short announcement and shows the caller ID it received. That one call proves the pointing and makes the number live.

What if my number stops working?

A number that gets no call on three checks in a row is paused automatically, so nobody's check is wasted on it, and you are told. Fix the pointing and test it again. It goes live on the next call.

Can I pause or remove a number?

Yes, any time, from the portal: pause keeps it enrolled but out of the pool, and remove takes it off the platform. A number cannot be removed in the seconds a check is using it.

Can an agent or a script do this?

Yes. The REST API and the MCP tools host_number, test_hosted_number and list_hosted_numbers do what the page does.
